The fifth assessment report (AR5) provides a clear and up to date view of the current state of scientific knowledge to climate change. It consists of the Working Group (WG) reports and a Synthesis Report (SYR) which integrates and synthesizes material in the WG reports for policy makers. The SYR and the WGs reports were release during 2013 and 2014 and was presented at the outreach.

The key findings of AR5, as expressed in the Synthesis Report released on 2 November, are:

  • Human influence on the climate system is clear;
  • The more we disrupt our climate, the more we risk severe, pervasive and irreversible impacts; and
  • We have the means to limit climate change and build a more prosperous, sustainable future.
